Police Do What They Want

     Ohio P2--4909
     Tuesday, January 31, 2012
     Black / White FORD  unknown
     Cleveland, Ohio

    January 30, 2012 - Approx Time: 5pm - Cleveland Police K9 Unit - p2 4909.

You know I don't usually do this but I followed the patrol car to see what the driver was going to do. I wanted to make sure that I witnessed the drivers actions; definitely outside the law. We would have gotten a ticket.

The patrol car was traveling on 71 south from Cleveland and was doing 75mph+ in the far left lane. Driver was blinking its headlights to get motorists to move to the right. The driver did this from Cleveland, Brooklyn, Lindale, Brookpark, Berea, Strongsville and Brunswick... The car was last seen traveling on its way down 71 South. Way to go... You give out tickets to us but don't uphold the law yourself. Watch out everyone.

Did the thought ever occur to you that this police officer was on their way to a call? Hmmm? Before you post crap like this, consider the circumstances! Otherwise you make yourself out to look like an ass!

They have specific reasons for using the sirens, but sometimes just need to get to a call fast without using them. Especially if the call requires no sirens so the suspect doesn't know they are coming, and that sound travels miles. AO

Sorry BadWookiee and AO, but I have to vehemently disagree with this. The reason the cops have sirens and lights is so that people know it is an emergency situation, are alerted to that fact, and will make way. It is dangerous to be driving far faster than other traffic and expecting people to clear out of your way, and not properly alert them. If it is an emergency, then they have a justification for breaking the laws they are tasked with enforcing. If it is not an emergency, they have NO RIGHT to do so, any more than anyone else. That is the line, period. This idea that there are "sort of" emergency situations is absolute crap. The reason the traffic laws are there is because you endanger peoples' lives and property when you drive recklessly. If they don't want a suspect to hear them coming, don't blast the siren, and kill the lights as you get close to the scene, but they damn well better have those lights going, and it better be a real emergency call if they are going to go plowing down the left lane of a highway and forcing other drivers out of their way. I rode with a cop one time when my car broke down, and that guy didn't use lights or siren, and there was NO emergency at all, but he drove over 100mph for 15-20 miles, on a 2 lane highway, because he knew he'd get away with it. No other reason. That is the mode case - cops routinely breaking the same laws they enforce because they feel entitled to do so.

How do you know for a fact that the officer mentioned in this wire was not going to a call OJ? Answer is you don't!! Perhaps the poster of this wire left it so ambiguous because he has something against cops. Posters like this individual here that post wires without all of the facts are just pinheads.

It's called a "NO CODE CALL", which means no sirens/flashy lights. This is to attempt to apprehend the bad guys and not give them notice they are coming.

IF there was a call... Maybe he could have at least used his lights for the first 20 miles or so... Doubt the bad guy they were trying to sneak up on would have seen him coming that far away? Just a thought
