     Kenilworth, Illinois

I was heading west down Greenwood Avenue from Green Bay Road. I had slowed my car for Glendenning Avenue because there is a yield sign there for north-south drivers and I worry they can't see me coming. NOTE: I didn't have a yield to adhere to, but I slowed anyway to drive defensively. I was going about 20 mph and was surprised it didn't take long to catch up with a BMW that had slowly backed out of a home's driveway up ahead. His plate read LA DE DA.

Mr. La De F#cking DA tooled along ahead of me going about 10 mph. He then hit the brakes and pointed at the 25 MPH sign and pointed up at it to inform me that was the speed limit. At this point I was going 20, he was going TWO MILES AN HOUR. I held up two fingers implying that was HIS speed. He then crawled to the stop sign at Kenilworth Avenue, put on his right signal and pulled over, waiting for me to pull up. Perhaps for a lecture? I don't know. I promptly turned around and left him sitting there.

Dear Mr. LA DE DA: 25 mph is the speed limit. I was going FIVE mph under that limit, you were going 23 mph under that limit - DO THE MATH. Who should get the ticket here? The world does not revolve around your leisurely, retired timetable. If you think I was trouble for you, imagine what the usual drivers in that neighborhood - speeding packs of vacationing teenagers coming from the beach - are going to do when you pull over to lecture them!!!

Sounds like another trend developing: in a hurry to pull in front of traffic , but crawling along at far below the speed limit. I don't understand why people do that. Brain cell shortage?
