More of the same nonsense, with another Prius driver who doesn't know how to turn off his washing machine when it's in the spin cycle.  It's funny that Ford F150's have had just as much trouble with stuck accelerators, but nowhere near the media trouble.  Why?  Because Ford customers know how to drive, and because the Prius and other Toyotas are designed to resemble washing machines, and are purchased by "drivers" that don't understand the first thing about how to drive.  All electronic!  Along with the other dumbed down features provided, they have eliminated that pesky key.  Several Prius drivers have commented that they don't even know what the "N" on the transmission is for.

This tool rode that out of control EZ-Bake oven for 20 minutes and couldn't figure out how to slow down and stop until a cop came along with a bullhorn to yell at him:

Cop: "Press down on the big one at the left!"
Prius driver:  "I set it in the drive cycle and pushed start!"
    Cop:  "Pull the emergency brake!"
    Prius driver:  "I can't take my hands off from 10 o'clock and 2 o'clock!"
Cop:  "Just do it!  Pull the emergency brake!"
Prius driver:  "You mean that lever with the button?  That's for parking!"
Cop:  "Just do it you moron!  Who taught you how to drive!!??"
Prius driver:  "Quit being cross with me!  I'm saving the planet!!!!"
    Cop:  "Put in in Neutral!"
    Prius driver:  "What's that?"
Cop:  "Put the thingamabob next to the letter N!"

I saw this on CNN today. I thought to myself, "why didn't he just put it in neutral?" Then they interviewed him...one question....how did he even get a license to drive?

Did you hear the 911 tapes? The idiot couldn't even answer the questions the operator was asking. Neutral? No? Dumb ass, neutral doesn't make your car uncontrollable, it makes it not go forward. You still have brakes and steering. She kept telling him to put it in neutral. I think he realized after it was all done that he was going to look stupid so he made up the "control" excuse for why he didn't put it in neutral when he was told to. ...AO...

I know of a guy with a Prius. He's a genius when it comes to reading and thinking things through, but let it be something mechanical and this guy has not got a clue! No common sense, whatsoever. To help get a fire going, pour gas right from the can onto the fire and wonder why the can is about to explode in his hands. Most of us learned about gasoline before we were about eight!

Exactly, then when everyone knew his history and that he is financially strapped, he backed out of it. I guess he didn't want to look like the balloon boy's parents! Not worth going to jail over!

musicman, I came around to that opinion rather quickly, especially after hearing the call.  That was so ridiculous I could hardly believe it.

welcome back 3b, OJ, Musicmanhah, I also came to that conclusion. I have a feeling he had one foot on the gas and one on the brake to make it seem like he couldn't stop. Everyone I know thinks he was doing it for the money, but once the 911 call came out and showed how stupid he was, he had to drop it or face a lifetime of rolling eyes. ...AO...

How one cannot remember that if a car can go it can also stop is beyond me. Yeah, this sounds bogus to me.

George Carlin told us all that if you think the average person is stupid, just remember that half of the rest of them are worse than that -- and I'm beginning to believe that most of the worse ones can be found, at one time or another, at a Toyota dealer...........One thing that vexes me, though, is: how can people that stupid make enough money to qualify for a loan? I'm a near-genius, and I don't make enough to live more than paycheck-to-paycheck!
